Having a website without traffic is like having a shoe store without buyers. After building a website the next most important thing is to focus energy on bringing quality traffic to it.

There are millions of websites that are associated with the gambling world and competing for website traffic is not an easy task. You need every tool available to drive targeted traffic to your website.

There are a lot of very effective methods, both free and paid, to drive traffic to your website. Sometimes a small investment is a necessary action in order to get an extra boost.
  • Advertise on free sites: You can advertise your website on free sites like Craigslist.org. People who come to your website through these sites are generally people hunting for something.

  • Submit your sites to directories: The most prominent business directory maintained on the web is DMOZ (www.dmoz.org). Get yourself listed in their directory. There are many other free directories you can find online where you can also list your site.

  • Be active on forums: Join forums related to your website and start posting and answering questions there. The forums allow you to add a signature at the bottom of your name. You can include your url there as well. When people reach your website by clicking on your signature, the traffic you get is already somewhat qualified.

  • Put a video on YouTube: Video blogs are very popular. Not just the funny ones but also the ones that demonstrate a particular product or service. Make a short video of your product or service and put it up on YouTube. You can use this video to link back to your website and drive quality traffic to it.

  • Exchanging links and comments: You can join a network of link exchanges. These networks will help you share your links with others. So while you put others on your website, your link will begin appearing on other websites. Link swapping is most successful when the links that point to your website share the same theme as your website.

  • Advertise using keywords: Google and Yahoo have a paid advertising program but we know that officially they do not accept PPC by gambling websites. They will allow you to use their service (i.e. AdWords for Google) only if your site doesn’t make any references to real money gambling. For example, use content about online casino history, free casino games, or gaming tips and strategy in attempt to collect email addresses. You can specify which keywords you want to advertise but be warned that using gambling keywords can get you banned from using their service so we suggest using “soft gambling keywords”. You only need to pay when someone clicks on the ads. This is a great way to build targeted traffic and collect email addresses because you know that the person clicking on your ad is really interested in what you have to offer.

  • Conventional Advertising: You can also follow a more conventional form of advertising by simply contacting the webmaster of a related site, posting banner ads on their website and then paying them based on impressions or different packages they may offer.

  • Buying traffic: There are some companies that sell web traffic. These companies can usually send 50,000 or so visitors to your website for a price of $250 USD (more or less). Sometimes you just need to boost traffic on your website to sell advertising and this may be the best way to go. However, most of the time these companies use pop-ups and other forms of advertising which basically trick people to clicking on your links. As you can imagine, such traffic does not generate many conversions because most of the time it is not targeted.
